Just so you know, here's a photo of my 'Old' shopsmith, SN# 23299...
Restored it last summer. You can probably tell it doesn't get much use with all the junk on it. (Kids!)

Got this one today - lucky hit on Craig's list...$500.....SN# 222659.
Runs fine, but want to do a complete going over first.
Will need some advice as what to do first.
Don't want to screw this one up before I get started...

Those both look terrific. I hope I can get mine to look half as good.

I helped remodel Clairmore twice I think. They really liked sending me on setups.

Start here http://www.shopsmithacademy.com/SS_Arch ... rn_Pt3.htm Thus making sure all the 'moving' sheaves are 'moving'! There are oil holes in the floating sheave and the control sheave. Put several drops
(10W machine oil(electric motor/3 in 1/'turbine') in each. Make sure some oil migrates to the small button bearing in the end of the control sheave. Check out the other saw dust sessions which deal with other areas of the headstock. All this gets you an understanding of how the mark V works. BTW the location of the poly-v belt on the drive shaft seems to vary. Some require the poly-v belt to be back further on the drive shaft(more than 1 'empty' groove). Yours PROBABLY needs to be in the third groove(2 'empty' on the front).

Thanks for the link! I haven't had time to watch them yet, maybe tomorrow.

I bought a bunch of lumber at the same auction that I bought the ER. My lumber was one of maybe a dozen stacks of lumber in this shed. About 7 or 8layers down, there was some paper laying between the stickers on my stack. It was the manuel for my ER! I can't believe it was laying in the one lumber pile that I bought. It kind of makes me think I was supposed to by the ER.

I recently acquired my dad's Shop Smith, Model # 10-ER; serial number 89339 It seems pretty complete except for a couple of items. Can anyone tell me if the following accessories are still available or can be found somewhere as I would like to have the unit complete:
Saw guard with splitter; Miter guage; and 12" aluminum sanding disc.

I am curious, although I do not need them, if any of the other original accessories are available? Like the drum sanding accessory and the buffing wheel. I have an original owner's guide which I will keep, but I would be willing to copy it if anyone needs this for their own 10-ER's.

I also acquired a Shop Smith Mark VII (belonged to my grandfather) which I have no room for and I am willing to sell to anyone interested. I live in northern California. Thank you.

These parts are available from time to time on E-Bay.
Usually a pretty good price.
