Well, I would like to have it be my ham call-sign but it's the initials of my first and middle name plus my last name. Very original, I know... :o

Does anyone know if you can change your username on this forum without losing your history?

Eldorado Touring Coupe 92 model year guy because that's what I am.

Here is a picture of the ride.....Unfortunately it's been like this for a while do to a suspected blown head gasket and lack of funds. First year of this body style. And only 4000 made in this color and Touring Coupe trim. I will have it running on the road again.;)

If you desire to do that, just quit using your current member name, get another e-mail address (there are unlimited ways to do this and to do it free), use the new e-mail address to register another user name and there you go. Good luck with your new identity, Red! :p

Does anyone know if you can change your username on this forum without losing your history?

After some rather intense exchanges with our Admin (Doug) on the subject of changing my username, I have decided to live with what I currently have. If you read the fineprint under the FAQ's for this forum you will discover it takes an act of congress to change your username. An excerpt from the FAQ under User Maintenance reads as follows:
FAQ - User Maintenance:

Q - How can I change the information in my profile?

A - It is your responsibility to keep the information in your profile up-to-date. You should especially ensure that your email address is kept current. You can alter any of the fields in your profile, except your username. Once you have registered your username, it becomes yours for life. In extreme circumstances, you may request that the administrator change your username, but he or she will require a very good reason to do so.
So, be forewarned that you must choose your username wisely the first time as there is no way to change it afterwards. Yes, you can create a new account with the desired username and associated email address but the new email address cannot be the same as your old account. Why such a policy has been established is beyond me when so many other forums routinely permit their users to change their username as a standard procedure. The excuse being used here in the SS Forum is that it might confuse some other user.

I asked Admins in two other forums I frequent if they had seen any problems with changing usernames. The answer was NO and that if our Admin did not want to do so they shouldn't be an Admin as it is a simple procedure to change the username and causes no problems to anyone. Most importantly, you do not lose any posts or any other associations for a particular account.

Anyway, without getting too vocal on this subject, I am just going to live with my existing username rather than have to go through the hassle of creating a new email address.

This post will probably be viewed as sour grapes on my part but I wanted everyone to be aware of the fact that the policies for the SS Forum will not permit you to change your username once it has been established.

And now, let's get back to making sawdust!!!

Been seeing a lot of new forum names lately. How about letting us know what it means or how you chose it?
