Going Back In Time A Little
Didn't really want to start a new thread about back order so reached back a bit and thought I would use this one.
I place an order for a Power Station with Leg Package Oct. 2008. Have checked on status of order a couple times but now has been several months ago. Received an email this am that my order has been shipped, should arrive Aug 6, 2009. Can't complain about that kind of service. I had pretty much written off ever receiving these items but SS has came thru and shipped them to me. I am happy as a clam at high tide about this. I just have to make sure I have $$ to pay for them now. The other good side is that there is no shipping nor sales tax on the order......

I keep finding little windows on this forum, that I don't really know what they do. So sometimes I experiment. Probably shouldn't do that, I know in my shop it can get me into trouble.

Tim, have no idea how shipping charges were avoided. I check my invoice twice and there are no shipping charges on it. Maybe they were overlooked, maybe they weren't charged because of long wait, maybe I will receive a seperate invoice for shipping. I really have no idea. I would think in this ecomomy I should be charged. It also has to come by freight truck, which we all know is a higher ship rate than Fed Ex or UPS. Time will tell.....

shipping charges
I was not charged shipping on a long back order on a dust collector for my planer. This was before the reorganization, but I was told they shipped it free due to the length of the back order. Still, it was a UPS item, not freight. I am like you, I would pay the shipping gladly to help keep them going.

If this item was part of a bigger order in which some of the items were already shipped, you were most likely charged the full shipping amount on the first item that shipped. At least this is the way most of my orders have been handled.baysidebob wrote:Tim, have no idea how shipping charges were avoided. I check my invoice twice and there are no shipping charges on it. My understand of their policy it that if a partial order is shipped, the shipping charges for the initial shipment will apply. Any later shipment of back-ordered item(s) will be shipped at NO charge!tdubnik wrote:If this item was part of a bigger order in which some of the items were already shipped, you were most likely charged the full shipping amount on the first item that shipped. This is consistent with my experience on back-ordered shipments.

Up date on my back order or the Power Station. Was ordered last October and shipped 7/30/09. Arrived yesterday......Delivered to our shop and nobody told me it was here until today. Probably won't get it home until this weekend and then put it together. HAPPY TO HAVE IT........
