Getting a riding mower into a pickup?

A come along would work to save your back if you are alone.
But I was talking about a rope tied to the back of the tractor
To pull back on to stop from hitting the back of the cab
After the final push off the ramp

Is there a cap on the bed? If so, you may have to remove either it or the steering wheel. My son and I push the mower up the ramps and then I chock the wheels and apply the emergency brake.

Be aware that the tractor can flip over backwards going up a ramp going forward... I learned that the hard way...Since then I always back the tractor up the ramp...

I realize this is an old thread seemingly resurrected by a spammer, but for what it's worth, this is no different then loading an ATV into the bed of a truck, except an ATV can go a lot faster than a riding mower. I've loaded an ATV into a truck millions of times and never hit the back of the bed/cab except once and that was because there was 6" of snow in the back of the truck...long story but it was like riding on an ice rink.

If possible, find a hill or other means to lessen the steepness of the ramps. I personally have no issue cruising up ramps and into the truck...it's backing down the ramps that's a bit more nerve-wracking. For that reason, we often just put the ATV in neutral, two of us grab the back rack and roll it backward out of the truck - it will roll right out and bounce on it's tires. I'm not sure I'd do that with a riding mower - not quite the springy tires and good suspension that you'll find in an ATV.
