Used to be... back when Pitino's kids were at Lex Catholic and he was still respected - lived near harrodsburg & MOW... then Dallas... then here, lovely Central PA.

Bought, restored and sold a 520 before I knew what I had (and should have kept) - Now I found religion and I'm working on restoring a 500 and a 10E.

ShopSmith Map now open...

Post by dachsieslave »

Well I see there is an interest in a map of ShopSmith owners. I have created maps through Google for two ceramic cooking forums I frequent, so when I saw this thread I went and made a ShopSmith map, here is the link for all interested.

ShopSmith Map

To add your location and picture log into your google account to edit. If you don't have one click "sign in" and it will give you the option to create one.

To add your marker, after you sign in click edit in the left margin.
Zoom in on the area you want.
Then click on the blue tear drop marker at the top of the map window.
Click on the location you want. This will open the window for you to enter your info.

Here is a link to a video walking through the process.

I have found another possibly easier way to get added to the map. You must still have a google account and be signed in. Add the ShopSmith map to your "My Maps" list, then use the search maps at the top of the screen to find your address. It will show a placemark on the map and open an info box. in the info box will be a "save to my maps option" Click on it. Place mark is added and edit box opened to enter your info.

You can be as exact or inexact as you want with your location. I have seen some people on my other maps put it right on their house, some in the middle of downtown.

I screwed around with it while watching listening to the nightly news. Got a blue teardrop at my location, but it is on a map titled SHOPSMITH and it is only in my computer. Guess I shouldn't have made a new map! Now can't get rid of it so "hid" it.

Had a hard time figuring out how to get the edit button to show up. Also had difficulty in getting the blue teardrop to show up. Finally did, but still don't know how!

I'm sorry you guys are having so much trouble. I just checked it and it worked fine. Are you signed in to Google. I guess when I get my main computer fixed I will try and make a video with sound, maybe that will make it more clear. I will make the same offer I made on my other forums, if you want on the map, just email me your location and I will add it for you.

I'm not getting any of the features you show, such as edit.

You have to sign in to see the edit. The "sign in" is in the upper right corner.

Sorry my first contribution to the forum is going so badly:(
