I want a strip sander

Post by tmillie »

I am looking for a used strip sander to buy, I do have an old greenie I don't used, i could be persuaded to trade for one in really good condition. My Greenie is in fair condition....but I'd like to just buy one for about $100 or $125.

I'm not sure if it's frowned upon on here to discuss buying used items.

Thanks if anyone can help me! It's the only attachment I don't have!

Watch ebay but finding one for $125.00 might be hard. A couple sold there last week.

tmillie,

Actually offering to buy or sell anything is discouraged and frowned upon. I understand that policy when it come to items that Shopsmith sells, like the strip sander, but if I had my way about it we should be able to list non-Shopsmith items. Just my opinion.

Sincerely,

Ron

Thanks, It's one of the least expensive specialty tools, so I'll pr'y just buy it new, I just take pride in the fact that so far I've been able to find all of my SS tools, etc on garage sales, craigslists and auctions, but it's pr'y about time I buy something direct anyway.

I agree though, not sure why we could help each other out from time to time selling, buying or even donating some tools non-shopsmith related....

I have questioned several e-bay seller about whether all three platens are included. RARE is the answer more than one! Typically you get a WHA YOU TALKIN ABOUT response.

Food for thought.

I bought a strip sander on ebay 3 or 4 ago. I think my final bid to get it was $175.00. The description said all parts were included that came with a new one. When it arrived it was in like new condition, but didn't have the curved phaeton. I called the seller to ask him to send me it too. He said he had thought they came with only the 2 he had sent, appologized for the oversight and told me he would reimburse me for ordering a new one from Shopsmith. He subsequently refunded me the costs involved. Some other sellers would have said too bad-get lost-don't give me negative feedback or I'll give you retaliatory neg FB! Needless to say I gave this guy very positive feedback as he even covered the postage from SS.

Is he one who's name appears often? If so he deserves recognition!

I have forgotten now who he was. But I do remember he wasn 't one of the dozen or so guys(and one lady) who regularly part out MKV's/10ERs and have SS items on eBay consistently. I think he was just selling off some of his personal equipment on a one time basis. I sort of recall it might have come from the eastern upper Midwest. But only sort of, as I've gotten eBay/news paper classified ad SS stuff from Mass. to California & Florida to Washington state as well as Ontario & Manitoba, Canada. USPS, UPS & CP all love me. I know their delivery drivers and Can. Customs agents on a first name basis!
