SS Back-orders?

Post by still_waters_43 »

I ordered a bandsaw blade and a universal 5/8 molder/dado arbor from SS at the end of June, and I am still waiting, as is my planned project:( . I can see that this is not uncommon (from other posts). In general how long do these type of orders typically remain on backorder?.

Sorry about your wait! I've had a chisel sharpening system for the strip sander ordered since December. Still waiting. (There are 20 of them on order) I'm sure Shopsmith is searching for a manufacturer for that part. Not only do they have a tough financial situation, some of their vendors have gone out of business.

Hopefully, it won't take too long to get your blade and arbor. Two weeks ago I ordered a rip saw blade. It got shipped on Tues. this week.

You can call and ask how your order is comming along. I call once a month about my chisel sharpening sysem.

I got a letter in the mail from ShopSmith last week. Seems one item I had on backorder has been on backorder SOOO long that the credit card number I gave them for payment has since expired. They were going through their records and found out and wanted to know a new number. The item has NOT come in yet, but just in case.... :D

Fwiw, I just received a partial order- the dado blade and the moldy dado table insert, so some stuff is still shipping. B/O'd on that order was the new arbor and the shim set.

Keep the faith!

I have planer parts ordered since March or April. The killer part is that they had all planer parts on sale when I ordered them. Also have a couple things from last year that never showed up. One was a bench brush and I have forgotten what the other was. I plan to order another lift assist soon, I hope they are in stock. I just cant understand why SS will put things on sale that they don't have. Sale price the current innovatory if you want to raise funds.:)

Here's my guess - They have found a company that will manufacture the part, but they are a few back orders short of the minimum quantity the manufacturer needs to make a profit. A sale might attract a few more orders, to entice the manufacturer to produce!

Shopsmith told me that the dado arbor is coming in the middle of September.

Talked to Jan this morning to up-date the expiration date on my card which will expire Aug. 31.

She told me it probably won't be necessary because the sharpening jigs are slated to ship this week.:)
