The 510 to 520 Pro Fence & Table System Upgrade #555982 and #555983 both lists and shows (8) new extruded Rails for Main and Extension Tables in the 2008 catalog and on the Shopsmith web site. You do need 8 rails.

I'm not sure about this at all but I received a pair of rails for the main table and three (3) sets of rails for extension/floating tables.

Here’s what you get with the Model 520
Table System Upgrade Kit:
• Larger Rip Fence is 24 1/2˝ long x 21/2˝ thick
with dual T-Slot Tracks on the top surface
and a T-Slot Track on each Face.
• (2) New Direct-Reading Rip Fence Scales.
You get two magnetic,
stainless steel Scales, one 45˝
long and one 16˝ long. Bottom Page 5
• New, wider Fence Straddler.
• (8) New Rails for Main and Extension Tables.
• Two Floating Extension Tables slide on
Connecting Tubes and lock anywhere you

• Two Telescoping Legs give added support.
A quick twist locks their height.

Whatever you do, make sure you are ordering the right upgrade kit. This will help to keep you from being disappointed when it arrives and you don't get what you expect.

Remember, a standard Mark V configuration includes only one extension table.

I know you already are very much aware of this, but you DO need a hybrid set(new main table/old float/extension table) of rails.

Agree wholeheartedly. Talked to Linda about my "variety pack" (as JPG calls it) of rails and tables, and got it all cleared up. Forgot to ask about "6" versus "8", but no need-- I believe you guys.

About the upgrade kits- parts are the same. If you're doing -982 you change and adjust rails. With -983 you bore out the apron holes, then do the same as -2, basically. (If I'd known that I'd have ordered the upgrade months ago.)

"Outstanding" I agree is a fit descriptor for SS customer service, in my experience.

(next time you talk to Linda, ask her how many arbors were produced under the number 505506, just for kicks.)

I'm extremely pleased at how well this went together & how easy it is compared to the 510 to get aligned. This was well worth the price (I did get it for the sale price).

Now to give the table a good polish & get the Bandsaw tweaked.

I am certain that you will be very pleased with the new setup, Steve. For me, it was like getting a brand new machine all over again.

In your pictures I see something that doesn't look right, however. It is probably an obstacle allusion. When you slide the extension/floating tables tight together with the main table, do you have a nice smooth transition from rail to rail (both front and rear). If you don't, you'll want to spend some time tweaking those alignments.
