Is the Powerpro coming?

Power Pro Spring Next Year
I was on the phone with SS Customer Service a week ago and asked about the PowerPro. The nice person on the other end of the phone indicated that it would not be this year, but early next year. So no Xmas presents yet!
I also note with interest that I just got an e-mail offer with a reduced price on SS headstock motors. Cleaning out old stock, maybe?

While speaking with customer service this afternoon I ask the headstock question. I received a great chuckle and then a reminder that the original teaser suggested more information late summer not the introduction of the headstock. The final comment I received being the latest status indicates more info early next year. Please note the words, "More Info" Jimriot_nrrd wrote:I was on the phone with SS Customer Service a week ago and asked about the PowerPro. As all of us know anticipation half the fun. Right now my cash flow is like SS and if it came out today I would be looking and wishing like I am now still.
Don't know about the rest of you but they still have plenty of nice toys I still want and looking at until then.

A poor guy can be impressionable
Just saw my brother last weekend; he has a '57 Mark V which may be on its 3rd or 4th speed control since birth. I told him the new Power Pro would end that problem for good.
This morning with slightly cooler weather, I turned on the Treadmill. After a few minutes of exercise, the electronics went haywire. It had sat (with surge suppressor) plugged in without use ever since April or May this year. We're going to need a warranty call now. After this I looked lovingly at my geared speed-control Mark V.

It sounds like an excellent argument for unplugging unused items. Our local power company even the local electronics, big box stores strongly suggest unplugging appliances of all description. I found it interesting that several years ago all electronics and computer vendors were pushing surge protection. Now all of those vendors are saying it's not safe to count on them protecting from electrical surges. You don't suppose surge protection was just one more fad designed to remove our dollars from our pockets. Jim

Hey, maybe now you have a heavy duty DC treadmill motor, it will work on the Shopsmith <smile>. I bought two DC motors with phase modulators and rheostat speed controls. When I learned they fit perfectly on 10ER motor mounts, I started buying 10ERs. I figured if Shopsmith can use 10E/ERs in the factory for machining new Mark V parts, then I could use them as well. Whoever said buying Shopsmith can be worse than a crack addiction, in my case, was right! I have 3 Model V's and 3 10ERs.
One Greenie, Two Mark 7s,Three 510s and much more…
