Slow, Slow, Oh So Slow

Post by dusty »

When the Shopsmith sites load slowly (like right now), is there a way to tell whether the cause is at my end or elsewhere?

I shut down and rebooted but that improved nothing.

I logged in to TheWoodWorkingChannel and it seemed to load normally.

Cause of slowness

Post by admin »

Today the cause is probably due to us sending our monthly e-card email. It goes out around 10am est and usually finishes up by 3 or 4 pm. It sucks up alot of our bandwidth, we are planning on moving to fiber optic cable within the year which will take care of the occasional slow-downs.

I noticed it being super slow also yesterday. It wouldn't even finish loading the forum page. Today all is well though.
thanks

I haven't received anything from SS via e-mail in months. Back then I would receive almost daily tips and sale notifications. Do I need to reregisiter?

email card

What you think, Ed? We get something from every email? That makes two of us that are not on this email list; I do get some but I regularly hear chatter about mailings that I didn't receive.

E-card

Post by admin »

The e-card is sent to our "prospective MARK V buyers" since you are probably in our system as owning a MARK V, we do not send these to you.

For those on our list who own a MARK V we send emails on Wednesday, Friday and if you have bought recently we send you one on Sunday.

If you are NOT getting our email specials, AND you own a MARK V, Please go to www.shopsmith.com/emailadd.htm and update your infomation or call 1-800-543-7586 and have a cust. serv. rep make sure your account is up to date.

The other suggestion I would have is to make sure that whoever your email provider or ISP is, they are not filtering email from Shopsmith.com. You can do this by adding shopsmith@shopsmith.com to your email address book or "safelist".

email not as before

Thank you admin

I called customer service and somehow SS had gotten a second email address (one I hardly ever check) recorded as my primary email address.

Sure hope I didn't miss any good email specials.

Has anyone noticed that the Owners Page is out of date? I haven't been recieving the e-mail specials (I have been recieving the shop tips, though) and I noticed that the link to the e-mail specials on the Owners Page is not working. Other things on the Owners Page are out of date as well.

I just checked and found the same thing. Although the picture of the sale catalog is of the Father's Day Sale catalog, the link does take you to the current Saw/Drill Catalog. The link for the current email special is broken, however. Good catch, teufelhund323. I wonder what your screen name means? Is it a dog breed?
