Great looking stoppers, good job. Maybe I will come to your house and we will open a few bottles to try these new items out........
I keep finding little windows on this forum, that I don't really know what they do. So sometimes I experiment. Probably shouldn't do that, I know in my shop it can get me into trouble.

imo the steel ones get more praise when people see them out of the bottle but the basic silicone ones look better on the bottle. just personal pref. although the metal ones are about 3.50+ each and the regular ones are only about 60 cents each
a few things i learned while making these
1. make sure the blank is screwed all the way down on the mandrel, if its not and you catch it will split
2. make sure you can unscrew the blank from the mandrel before you start sanding, it sucks to sand, finish a piece and then find out you need to use a pair of pliers to remove it
also i should start having byob parties and you all can "Bring your own blanks"
i used to take wood carving classes and one day in class i asked my teacher what the diffrence between carving and whittling was and he said "This is Carving" as he pointed around the class. i asked him "so what is whittling?" and he said " when you had a couple of drinks and get inspired to carve"... we all laughed and from that day forward anytime anyone cut themselves or had band-aides on when they came to class was dubbed a whittler.
i dont wanna know what the power tool version of that would be
