Newer and older miter gauges "guides"

Hi,

Thought I would pass this little bit of information on to those who might need to know.

The miter gauge I got back in 1976 had guides that are different the current design. The smaller guide(s) like the one my original gauge are pictured when you follow where hex wrench is pointing, and were called out as plug-guide nylon (501406) the newer ones are called a guide (514566) and can be seen on the miter gauge that is in the rear.

You might think some is planning an end of the year order and needing to have this information....

Ed, will the newer guides fit in the older miter gauge or vice verse.

My name is not Ed, but if you look at the thread/pix in the thread nuhobby provided above you will see they are very incompatible. The small nylon bullet shaped one is the the end of a 5/16-18 nylon screw. The newer wider one has threads much larger.

After my recent Shopsmith splurge I've been digging in my pocket so deep that I'm now forced to pay bils with pocket fluff. I was so hoping that I would not have sufficient reason to buy the PowerPro upgrade. This suggests otherwise.

I have been ignoring auctions and sales for speed reducers and increasers just in case, but this sounds like everything all wrapped up in a wonderful bow. Of course, there is always that PRICE thing. I am praying for $1000, wishing for $1500, and expecting $2000. The latter price is gonna make it really hard for me to justify, as I would be forced to eat the pocket fluff for the next year.

Here's hoping yer prayers are excessive(for a do it yerself conversion kit)!
