Dusty, I couldn't retrieve those pics- something about aol I think.

But one caveat about the 505506 moldy dado arbor: SS had sold at least three (yes 3) different arbors under that part number. You may have one of the earlier arbors and may have to simply restack the spacers and washers on the arbor with the new blade.

sawblade arbor hole

Post by bluplanet »

If you want to have a blade with a 5/8" hole enlarged for a larger arbor, the Heinemann saw company will do it for about $17.50 per blade (net).
At least, that's the price they quoted me to enlarge a 5/8" arbor hole to 1-1/8" for an old B&D hand saw.
I believe they sell their own brand of blades as well, but they'll enlarge the hole in any blade and they do sharpening also.

[quote="dusty"]A friend gave me a 5/8" arbor and thin kerf saw blade that he said had been part of his Shopsmith.

I mounted them and they seem to work fine. The thin kerf is a Sysmatic and is nearly new (sharp and clean). I consider myself fortunate but I have a question about the arbor.

With this arbor mounted, I cannot move the carriage as close to the headstock as with all other arbors]

Without any spacers, blades on my three different 505506 (2= Universal, 1= Moldy/Dado) arbors, my SS 1-1/4 arbors and my one SS 5/8 std arbor all locate the blade the same.
Does your new setup include spacers?
