Serial number

My serial number is E 3394. Seems as thought this is a later model mad by Magna. Can anybody tell me the model and year of my shop smith? would also like to know where to get new parts if needed.

I am going to wait for the logistical experts to answer your question ....... because I don't know the answer and don't recognize the number format.

It likely is for a 10E. I don't believe that it is a Mark V.

Your unit appears to be an early model 1947/48 vintage based on the survey info.

The "Model 10E" was the first Shopsmith model manufactured by Magna Engineering starting in 1947. The "E" is for "Experimental." A couple years later, they released the "10ER" (Experimental Revised) which had a few new features and enhancements. A few of the 10E units that were still at the factory were retrofitted as ER's so they have "Model 10E" on the logo plate, but a serial number starting with "ER." The Model 10ER was so successful, the product was refined and enhanced and in 1953, the "Shopsmith Mark 5" was released.

Do you have any other specific questions or any bits of information you'd like? Feel free to ask away! I'm one of several 10E/10ER owners here. I have two of them that I have restored but others here have more than I do. It really is an amazing machine and to think that after 60+ years, with only a little TLC, these machines can be as good as new again really speaks volumes about the quality of the product. And interestingly enough, I've heard that at the Shopsmith factory, they still use several Model 10s in building the current Mark Vs!

Well thanks for the replies. After further investigation I found the model which is a 10 E. I also talked with a gentlemen in CA named Jack who fixed me up with Catalogs and a speed .... which has two new belts with it which I needed anyways. The owner had a lot of xtra's with the machine. It also has the scroll saw attachment which is nice. I can Sand ,Drum sand ,shape drill etc all in one. Awesome.

As you get more comfortable with this new equipment and get it all tuned up and lubricated you find that it is even more awesome than you realize now.
