White Weekend
Central Virginia was blessed with 20 plus inches of snow in 12 hours Friday night with three or four more Saturday. We spent most of Saturday digging out our place. The neighbors all thought we were nuts taking the snow blower thru the great room so I could blow the snow off the deck. Our road is still a four wheel drive trail tonight. Man I love 4 wheeling in the snow. This morning I finished digging out my place and helped a couple of neighbors. A third neighbor borrowed my lawn boy snow blower and dug out his driveway and helped a couple of other neighbors. Yesterday I finished setting up to turn 10 pens. My foot problem makes it hard to spend much time on my feet. Still by bedtime tonight I managed to turn 9 pens. Tomorrow night I will set up an additional group of turning projects.
I wish each and every member of our group a very Merry and save Christmas. Jim

It looks like we may have a white Christmas this year. It is suppose to rain most of Wed, then turn to snow. We haven't had one for a long time. I like the way it snows here, it snows one day gone in a couple of days.

When I lived in Wichita, I remember a snowstorm sometime around 78 or 79, when it didn't leave in a day or two. The forecast was for flurries, as we got a couple of inches the forecast changed to 4", then they kept upping the forecasted accumulation. FInally they declared it a blizzard as it past 12". I think we got 18" with high winds. The closed the roads because they would clear them and they would drift shut.joedw00 wrote:It looks like we may have a white Christmas this year. I remember visiting Topeka once at about that same point in time, when they received nine or ten inches of white partly cloudy.... Yes that was a bad snowstorm, and it stayed for a long time, but here lately it will snow and be gone before long.

Just a quick note: Ohio State will crush Oregon in Rose Bowl! If you need extra cash to start the New Year, take the 3 1/2 points and Ohio State!

We got our Christmas present. My daughter is a 4th year at UVA and she flew out from Charlottesville Friday afternoon and flew through Philadelphia. One day later and she would still be in Jim's neighborhood or camping at Philadelphia International Airport. Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year to all.fjimp wrote:Central Virginia was blessed with 20 plus inches of snow in 12 hours Friday night with three or four more Saturday. Rob, Her timing was truly perfect. Today is the first day traffic has begun moving here. I still feel like I am on vacation. None of this weeks appointments have been able to get out their homes. Truth be known Southerners like a good excuse to stay home or go hunting:) We would have happily opened our home to your daughter. Our kids all live in the west and are unable to make it home this year. We love having young folks around. If ever she is looking for a place to get away from UVA for awhile or a great salmon dinner have her call us. JimSDSSmith wrote:We got our Christmas present.
