It will take me about 2 to 4 days to do the carving and a day to paint it. this one was about 3 days. I do a lot cypress knee carving with Power tools. Cypress knees are very strange to work with, there can be big changes in density and texture. Detail I use carving knifes.

Very nice. Great job, but uh, don't let my wife see it. She'll be saying, hey, you have all that expensive Shopsmith equipment, why can't you make one...

Terrific talent you have.

...now, if you'll excuse me, I'm a busy man. I have sawdust to make... ;)

I second TDUBNIK's comments.

Though my father was an artist, I don't seem to have inherited his talents.

Great Job!

If you want to give it a try this is a great how to book
“Carving Cypress Knees Creating Whimsical Characters from One of Nature's Most Unique Woods By Carole Jean Boyd, Jack A. Williams”
It takes you step by step on carving and painting a Cypress Knee. I learn to carve them from taking a class given by Carole Jean. I have the book and refer to it a lot. You can find it on the web.
