Interesting pix. The quill appears strange. Is it partly extended? Nice pile of project wood!:D That motor appears much 'larger' than a stock 1/2 HP!

How do I find out what year this 10ER was made? Yes the Quill is partley extended. And I believe the motor may be 3/4 h.p...
Previous owner told me this was a scroll saw attatchment. I'm thinking it's a Jig Saw myself... Seems to be somewhat froze up.

Also, that is a jigsaw, not a scroll saw. It mounts on top of the ER and uses the ER table (with a special jigsaw insert) for its table. And it's not a particularly good jigsaw either. Very jumpy.
Check out the 10ER Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Shopsmith10ERusers/. It's a great resource for 10E/ER owners. You can estimate the year your ER was made with this document. It's survey results from other 10ER owners. When the original purchase date was known, it was noted. See where your SN falls between the known dates.
EDIT: The link to the document was broken (thanks mickyd for pointing that out). It's fixed, but you might have to be logged in to the Yahoo group for it to work.

Hack repair
Here is a photo of a "hack repair" I did about 15 years ago. Both sides were stripped and I didn't have access to a tap/die set. I removed both set screws and used nuts inside to secure my bolts. The top left bolt in photo is locked with a nut on the outside and doesnt get moved as it is aligned for a 90 degree cut. The screw on the bottom right gets loosened and the blade slips between the little block and the left nut. It looks ugly as hell, but it has 100's of hours of precision die-making on it and it has worked like a champ!
