10 E Trunion Lock

Before I go and break this, I would like to verify that the 'nut' has the same threads as those towards the right end in the pix(fine threads).

I am assuming the 'proper' use of this part is to thread the course threaded end into the trunion very tightly(end of threads) and the washer and nut are intended to be run in and out on the fine threaded part and tightened/loosened with the captive handle. The course threaded end should NOT be moving while this nut is run in/out.

A nut splitter would tell you conclusively.

Second to that, I would be willing to stake your reputation on it that you are correct in your assumption.

Warn't clean to start with. I 'discovered' another 8" wire brush today. It is finer than the other one I was using. It really does a nice job. The 8" diameter removes 'stuff' quickly while the finer bristles gives a nice 'finish'.

Thank you both for the 'correct' answer. It is now able to function properly!:)

A word of caution on that trunion lock. Always (and I mean ALWAYS) double check that it is locked or you run the risk of your table tilting during use. What a mess that would be!!:eek:

Been there done that on the Goldie! Like forgetting to lock the headstock b4 raising to vertical. Once is all it takes to remember 4ever!
