Mickyd initially suggested ripping through the 4" dimension in two passes(flipping it over). THAT is where the concerns posted since come from.

He needs to saw several 1/4" x 1/2" x varying length which will have 1/8: rabbets added.

It biggest issue I am facing it the fact that I don't have a bandsaw to resaw the board into two 8x4x1/4" thickness with center waste. With the over the fence raised panel type jig that reible shows in his thread, I don't see where ripping through the 4" dimension in two passes would be an issue. The piece would be locked onto the face of the fence, blade set 2"+ and slowly feed into the blade as shown in my previous post. What's wrong with this method??? So far, I see this as the path of least resistance.

YEP! . . . . . Unless . . You want to make one of these first:D

It fastens to the fence with the two lower bolts. For your 'application' it would need an extension to the 'push bar'

Now... How do you plan to make the second cut? You can clamp it to the jig and cut the first ½ way through but to turn it over and make the second cut you can't just clamp it because of the kerf you just removed. You can slip a thin piece in the kerf to support the pressure of the clamps and hold it like that but if you just clamp the cut piece to the jig with an open kerf as soon as the cut is complete you will have two loose pieces not being controlled. Or am I missing something special in the way it will be clamped?

You need to swap the "parts Mark V" for one. Once you have it you won't know how you lived without it. Plus you can end the cat/mouse game with the better half....unless you don't want to.

Get rid of it??? I am going to try to make that her machine (aka 'Pinkie). She's a crafty one and I wouldn't doubt that if I could find a handful of cool projects for her, she'd use it. She's taken an interest with me when I've built stuff, not only as my 'go-fer', but hands on interest as well.
