I am seeing double!

Post by ------------------------ »

Well I got tired of checking craigslist for a new project machine, so I placed an add for a machine wanted and ten minutes later got an email from a guy who had these two beauties. If all goes according to plan they will be delivered tomorrow. I am a glutton for punishment as this will #4 & #5:eek:

Just to compare and contrast the market around here, I put a "Shopsmith Wanted" add in the Thrifty Nickel (free classifieds paper they stack outside gas stations and grocery stores). I let it run for a month. I think it was the 3rd week when I got my one and only call. Although it did lead to my second 10ER.

Several months later I put a similar wanted ad on Craig's List. Again, it took a few weeks to get a response, but it lead to a good deal on my Mark V.

I have never seen a 10ER offered anywhere around here - classifieds, Craig's List, eBay, Freecycle... nowhere. I have only seen a couple of Mark V's over the last year or two that I've been looking, but they've been horribly overpriced. People wanting $1,000 for a base 500 with no accessories kind of overpriced.

You need to change your forum name to mark-bER. Nice find....again. Little Johnson paste wax, little paint, lots of labor and you've resurrected two more. Good luck.

I've got a lot of work ahead of me. The worst part is that the seller has taken all the extras: chucks, arbors, sanding discs, centers and sold them on ebay:( I hope to get these cleaned up quick as I am trying to parlay my way to a Mark V soon:D

Good thing your not in OK. Here they think they are still $300 machines in that shape. I have had no luck here at all. Most of mine come from KC and my Dad and Brother said no more they are too heavy and no room to store them until I make the trip. Don't know why Dad doesn't like to pick them up for me. He is only 85 LOL
Good find.
