What brand of wax?

What brand of wax do you use on the table saw? Where do you buy your wax?

I'm on a kick this week of going back to the earlier days of the forum where we have discussed various topics (now these old posts are lost back in time) and most new members are looking only at all the current posts that occur at a very rapid rate).

I use Johnson's paste wax, as recommended in the old traveling academy. Although I have used Topcoat, and have a can someplace, the paste wax is next to the SS and I rub down the way tubes regularly, so I can always find the can of wax. The Topcoat looks like spray paint, so it is stuffed on a shelf with other spray cans.

I got in a pinch a couple times. I reached for the wd-40 and the pluge furniture polish.

Johnsons or Briwax. Talc type baby powder (un-medicated) works, too.

I use Johnson Original Paste wax in the red and yellow can. I recently bought a new lifetime supply at Home Depot. It is not in the flooring department it is in the hardware dept where some of the garden tools are.I could not find it until I asked customer service and they had to look it up on the inventory sheets.
My machine is currently torn down to replace the bearings and I was having difficulty moving the table carriage all the way to the right. I found heavy black deposits on the headstock casting where the way tubes pass through and also on the carriage way tube holes. This was a buildup of the wax and sawdust that occurred over about twenty years. Make sure that you really buff off al the excess wax.

I use baby powder on my drum sander, so that the sleeves come off easily. Johnson Original formula wax for the tables and tubes.

I use Johnson past wax. It is available most places. In stores where you find furniture polish.
Minwax also makes a past wax. In with Minwax stain

For the past year or so I have been using Slipit slinding compound
http://www.slipit.com/shop/ on my ShopSmith and all machines and tools in my shop. I use the one in the green can it does not contain silicon and is safe to use on table saws, it will not leave residue on wood. I also use it on my wood table tops such as ARS and router table top.
