Another opr question. Can you mount a router under the table of the opr like the regular router table?

It is my understanding the OPR table sets on the SS main table when the main table is in drill press mode. Therefore it is nearly impossible to mount a router below it.

That said I have two thought.
1. Since the main table is nothing more than support for the OPR table I wonder if you couldn't order the support tubes and trunions and mount them directly to the OPR table. Then you would remove the normal main table and install the OPR table. You then could mount a router under it.
I would think this would give you all kinds of versatility being able to tilt the table and all.

2. If you have an old main table assembly cut a hole in it big enough for the router to pass through then mount the OPR table as normal. Mount the router to the bottom of the OPR and install the OPR table to the main table so the router sits in the hole. This method would insure rigidity of the table and no possibility of sag.

I didn't realize that the OPR simply rested on the main table. I thought the OPR replaced the main table.

If I pay attention during this next Saw Dust Session, I ought to learn a lot.

There are two answers to this question:
First, With the standard OPR table - the answer is no! The standard OPR table comes with two "T" nuts that fasten to the bottom of the OPR table. These "T" nuts slide into the main table miter slots. They are tightened to fix the OPR table to the main table. There is no way you could fit a router through the main table to a plate in the OPR table without a prohibitive amount of modification.

Second, With a modified version like the one reible has I guess the answer is yes! Don't know how it would work though. I had seen Ed reible's photos, but don't know that they are presently available.
