I recently acquired a Shopsmith which needed a little work. Finally found the paste wax and it is the same paste wax I used to do hardwood floors with in the 1960's. This time purchased the Minwax without any stain and it works very well. The posts and table tops that I have cleaned and polished work very smoothly. But, as was mentioned, you want to make very sure that you clean out the mitre slots and other such places. I left some and the mitre had the jitters. Whipped out the dremel and cleaned out the slots and the mitre slides through as if on grease. Sure made a difference in how it all works. When the temps rise some more, will clean up the rest of the machine before doing any more production. Momma wants stuff and I want a smooth operation.

I just love it when she says I can go make sawdust.

How much are you 'applying'? I use my finger and barely touch the wax in the can. I then rub this onto whatever I am waxing. A little goes a long way. After spreading a thin coat. I let it 'sit' briefly(< 5minutes). Then buff vigorously. If not 'slick' all over, repeat on those non-slick areas.

Please tell us less 'street savvy' what White Lightning is. I do not think you are referring to the local meaning.

Maybe this is one of them (Slick 50)
and this is the other (White Lightning).
BUT - NO THANKS - I'll stick with the original Johnson's Paste Wax.

This is the White lightning:
Clean Ride™
The Legendary Self-Cleaning Lubricant
You've known and loved White Lightning for its "Original Self-Cleaning Lube" - but boy, what a long name… and we know we all use it because it stays clean - so we've renamed it, but no worries, no changes have been made to the formula - it's the same lube but now with a new name that says it all, in just two words; Clean Ride..!
Clean Ride™ is Cycling's Only Self-Cleaning Lubricant
Clean Ride literally sheds dirt & grime while you ride, keeping your bike running smoothly.
Clean Ride sets up as a dry wax film. There is no oily film to attract abrasive contaminants, so your chain and gears will perform better and last 2 to 3 times longer. Clean Ride's self-cleaning action is activated by any dirt, grit or grime that finds it's way onto your chain or parts. Small particles of the outer wax structure will flake off, taking the dirt, grime or grit with it. This begins the cycle of 'self-cleaning'. Clean Ride is a unique, wax-based lubricant, so it is important to start with a clean chain. For optimum 'self-cleaning' performance, do not mix Clean Ride with oil based lubricants. The dirtier the ride, the more active the shedding action. So to this extent, Clean Ride will require more frequent re-application after dirtier rides. When Clean Ride is used regularly and properly, you'll rarely have to clean your chain again. So, while your buddies are cleaning their chains, you'll be applying a fresh shot of Clean Ride and heading out for yet another great ride!

Think thin film!
Why does this sound familiar?
