Your thoughts on colors?
Hi all,
With my restoration starting from the bottom and working up, it's almost time to start painting the legs.
I haven't yet been able to decide if I want to try matching the original paint scheme, or use my own colors. I would like to use paints with the "hammered" finish to hide any imperfections in the metal, but That's as far as the decision goes at this stage.
Your opinions? Should I go original or personal? Is there any benefit either way?
Cheers.

The key word here is "personal".
"Personally" I like having mine different colors. It makes it easy to keep track of which giblets belong with which Shopsmith. Some don't really matter but if you start switching things that are carefully aligned like the main tables then accuracy can be thrown off a little.

If you feel that the machine is in it's original condition, I would go with the original paint scheme. If the machine you are talking about is the one in your other post, you can be assured that it didn't come from the factory like that so there would be no advantage to maintaining original condition. My philosophy re restorations.PG-Zac wrote:Hi all,

Don't paint it this color scheme. It's trademarked and reserved from my wife.PG-Zac wrote:Yup Mike I'm referring to the same machine as on my other post.
