I have not really followed this thread, but I got this with a couple of crap ERs and it is not for either. If you want it, it's yours. If not, maybe someone else can use it.

If he doesn't want it, I'll 'take' it. It looks like I could make the riving knife portion into a 10E bracket(which I am currently missing/needing).

Need instructions/diagram for 505875 Saw Guard

Post by vzandt »

I need a set of instructions for attaching a 505875
upper and lower guard to a Mark V 500. I now have the guard system, but It looks like I need to drill a couple of holes to attach the upper guard and I am not sure how to hold the two parts of the lower guard together.

Spacer or rather Carriage Stop Ring

Post by jimthej »

Took me a while to get back on the forum. Part # is 504165 it's called a Carriage Stop Ring.

Both 58" arbors appear identical. I guess they are both 510/520 arbors? Other than the 500 guard not fitting, is there any other problem with using them on the 500?

Hi, Right now I think I have only the left-over hacksaw-template which is used to modify the table-tie-bar casting at the inner part of the outfeed side, to provide more clearance for the lower guard. I don't have the full instruction set any more. The 'dovetail block' which accepts the upper guard nestles pretty tightly against the outer part of the outfeed-side tie-bar casting, so you may be able to figure out those holes pretty readily. The lower shield which is not attached to the Quill, attaches to the table-tie bar. These days they have you attach it with 2 screws for maximum safety. In times past, it would attach with some wing-shaped twists in the tie bar from the factory.

You may be able to get this set of instructions from Shopsmith by calling them. If you come up desperate and nobody else has something for you, I can send you my old hacksaw template.

Are the instructions you need the PDF I posted in this thread?
