Sanding blasting/compressor ?

Post by retiredsoldier919 »

I have an opportunity to buy a Speedaire compressor for $200. I am wondering if it would be satisfactory for sand/media blasting. I plan to use it for rust and paint removal. My research online has led me to believe it is. But I'd like real-world opinions. If you have experience with this operation, I'd appreciate your feedback. Here are the specs:

Speedair 3Z424E
2 HP
CFM 10.5
Free Air 6.2@100psi
RPM 750
30 Gal
Max work pressure 125 psi

Might get you by with a low end blaster. Check Harbor Freight blasters specs. Even a small one needs 6-8 CFM @ 90+ PSI. The speedair you spec'd would not be able to maintain the required air volume. You would be constantly waiting for the compressor to catch up.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know, before I buy.
