Many members have never posted, and a lot of those "lurk". When viewing the "Main Woodworking Forum" page scroll down to where it says "What's Going On?" and you can see who is currently visiting. If you go the next step and clik on the "Currently Active Users" link, you can see what each of those members are viewing. Many of those members have never posted, or post infrequently.cocacola1012 wrote:I like cocacola and I had a 10 yr and 12 yr when I made this for other things. By the way. I was looking through the members list the other day. I noticed a lot of people had zeros in thier post colum.

Zac was my easy-to-input name for the high score on Asteroids (remember you had to move the joystick to type your name?) and that stuck into computer days. Many forums already have a Zac, so I added my initials PG - No competition for that one.

Well mine is pretty self explanatory but the reason I used that one instead of one I use everywhere else is because the one I use elsewhere is a fishing (saltwater) reference I I was pretty sure that Albiemanmike wouldn't be unerstood by the membership here so I went with a more traditional woodworking themed handle/name. But it does describe how I feel about woodworking. I have many nice tools but have not the first clue on how to use them properly and make something pretty and useful that will stand the test of time. I remember my grandpa used to do a ton of woodworking and he made us all a bunch of bedroom furniture that we still have and use to this day. I think that is the best way to honor his talent and hard work by continuing to use his beautiful handcrafted furniture. My hope is that once I am done refurbing my Mark VII that I will be able to learn some of the more basic and advanced woodworking techniques so that I can start making useful and decorative wood items for both the wife and the family to use.
I am not without talent though. I used to be a dealership mechanic for many years, I was in the USAF back in the mid-late eighties and worked on flight simulators and I now work as a senior it support engineer. There is very little I will not tackle myself, most of my experience having others do things for me either for free or for money has taught me nobody will be as careful and anal as I will be nor will they be as technically proficient at most things. So it brings back the old saying if you want something done right then do it yourself.
I am super happy to have found this site of great people I have already gotten a ton of help from Mr. Bill M. and we have been correspondng back and forth I think because we share the same last name that we kind of made an informal connection but I digress. The knowledge and willingness of the membership here to share and help out others is the reason why I really like this forum and will continue to hang here until someone runs me outta town by sunrise or something.........................
