From reading what I could find I've not found how to adjust the Gilmer belt tightness. I seem to recall that at slow speed setting, it should deflect 1/8" or less. Mine deflects considerably more.
Can anyone help?

I follow the instructions from Shopsmith (http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/prod ... cement.pdf) and turn the eccentric til it "screams" and then back off until it stops. I never bothered to look at how much play I had in the belt when I was done.

Though I couldn't get it to squeal, I got it tight. The eccentric was pretty hard turning. When I opened it up the slot was between 8:00 and 9:00. Moved it to just past 9:00.

Now back to resawing mesquite.

What is causing the 'screeching'? The clutch???? Belt nub sides against pulley nub sides?
