sluggish power

I have gotten my motor back from the shop. They said it is fine. Now, however, I don't know which wires go where on the switch. There are 4 wires and 4 places. I have (looking at the back/inside of the switch and going clockwise) an upper/side right, lower right, lower left and upper/side left. (kinda like a little stick figure person) I have 4 wires, black, white, green and yellow.

You have a green wire, and a yellow wire, or you have a green and yellow wire???

Green and yellow wires are almost exclusively used for ground in the US. Green wire is also almost exclusively used for ground in the US.

Black is typically the hot lead and white is typically the neutral wire.

This would be wired to standard code.

I should add that this is for electrical wiring, Electronics wiring can vary.

a green wire and a yellow wire. I would agree that the green one and yellow one are ground wires... but where do they attach on the switch?

My MKV was sluggish and, after discussing it on this forum, I came to the realization that the poly v belt was loose. Tightened it and it now cuts like a champ.

Black from power to the center of the switch. Black to the motor to the same pole bottom of the switch.

White to white,

Ground to the motor housing.

Methinks we need to step back and verify some things b4 we start connecting wires to devices/frame.

Verify where the other end of these wires go!

1)Determine which wires are the linecord(probably the black and white).

2)Determine which wires go INSIDE the motor(probably the yellow and what appears to be green, but may have been blue originally).

3)The linecord green/green-yellow) is probably connected to the OUTSIDE of the motor.

4) If 1 and 2 are as described, connect the black wire to the lower left terminal, and the white wire to the lower right terminal. Then connect the yellow wire to the upper right terminal, and the 'blue' wire to the upper left terminal. It is very important to verify the 'blue' wire does NOT connect to the outside of the motor.

5) IF 1 and 2 are NOT as described, come back with what you did find.
