Server not found AGAIN...

Originally if I could not get on Shopsmith .net then I couldn't normally get on Shopsmith.com either. Now when I can't access Shopsmith. net I can (so far) get on Shopsmith.com. Just now I went to Shopsmith.com (couldn't get on .net) and navigated to the owner's section and located a link to "Woodworking Forum" and it brought me here... I have only been able to do that a few days.
Oh, well... It has kind of become a game...

I'm not having problems. I have not tried .net, but I check .com frequently. I did see some errors a month or so ago, but none lately. Maybe I'm just lucky.

For those having problems, try this. Assuming you use Windows, open a windows command prompt. Then type: ipconfig /flushdns

This will clear your local DNS cache.

Its worth a shot.

It could also just be that they are having lots of problems with the server and it really is going down??

This is a response to your post #25. No I do not re-try repeatedly.I go to other websites and then come back several minutes later or I go away from the computer and come back a couple of hours later and try again. Connections have been random and do not seem to correlate to any particular time of day. As I said before when I do connect and then switch between forum groups I get the "can't display the website" message.

Something has been altered, I believe, because the trace function works differently than before and the RTT figures have come way down..

Dusty is correct the difference now and all recent times I have tried the Discussion group is outstanding. Dusty must have spoken kindly and to the right person. When speaking with Jan early this afternoon she was unaware of problems yet agreed to speak with admin. Jim

The group at Shopsmith, Jim, is an outstanding collection of people. When I was a manager, I would have given anything to have a group of people working for me that was as goal oriented as these folks are. The real problem is that they have been reduced in number to a level where it is very difficult for them to keep ahead of it all. In time, they will once again be the group that we have all come to depend upon. PATIENCE, Grasshopper.

BTW, all I did was report the problem as I saw it to the webmaster. Shopsmith did the rest.

This looks too simple to be accurate! Am I missing something, or do not have it setup properly? Or have I installed a worthless version?

Wow! I'm now getting on 100% of the time so far. Gee, it almost seems strange
Now if I can just make some serious progress on getting moved the 16' into the "new" shop.

Not only do I get on with every attempt, it now seems like that connection is being made much more quickly. But, that may all be a function of my imagination. Transmission delays are measured in milliseconds so ..... what's a few millisecs.

I just hope I don't see that "Server not Found" notice any time again soon.
