What Bad Happens if I don't???

I often read that one must lubricate the Mark V before turning it on (I assume this means "after it has been setting unused, or condition is unknown").

But assuming that I don't lubricate, what is likely to happen -OR- what damage is done?

Some tips that might be helpful.

In most cases, nothing...
Now if you try to adjust the speed and it is too stiff forcing the crank can damage the control but if it works OK then again nothing. It is just good practice and in extreme cases it may not work at all until gone through.
My procedure when I bought one was to plug it in and see what happened.

If I had not seen it run before I always flipped the switch on and then plugged it in. Then the first thing I did was to hit it with the back of my hand to be sure it was not going to zap me. You can learn a lot in that first 10 seconds.

I like that we think alike..........

Been there done that when I was in the USAF working on electronic simulators that still had some tubes and stuff in them. Always hit the chassis with my hand to see if i was going for a ride or not.............
