Greenie DONE!

I posted on the restoration thread but wanted to make a new one so that everyone sees the finished 1954 Mark V Greenie I restored. It was a lot of fun to restore this machine and it was in pretty rough shape when I got it. But I only put maybe $175.00 into it and maybe 40+ hrs. of time. It isn't a big deal to me as it gave me something to do in the last months of winter. She came out quite nicely I think and if I ever do another one (my Mark VII) I learned some valuable things during this restoration. The painting phase was the biggest PIA for me as I have no good place to paint and I am notoriously impatient to let the paint dry completely. But overall it came out better than I was expecting and I am extremely pleased with the results. I still have to paint the Mitre Guage as it still sports the old Greenie clothes.

Looking at your avatar Heath I noticed that I painted my motor pan the same color as the belt cover which kind of looks strange so I may have to pull the motor pan and paint it silver to get it looking more symetrical but other than that thanks for the kudos.

Great looking machine, Michael. I really like the color combination. I'll be ready to paint my new greenie purchase in the next few weeks. I already have the paint and am going with close to the original colors.
Maybe when I paint my other greenie (which is blue:), I'll go with the black and silver.

Look great Michael. I like the color combo. I even like that pan color even though you commented about doing it silver. Looks fine black to me. We'll have to come up with an alternate name from 'Greenie'....maybe 'Bleenie'?:D

You do what you need to do, but I think it looks just fine!

Looking at the pictures again, in the third one it looks like the carriage is polished, but in the others it looks painted. So which is it?

I would not change a thing, except the mitre guage which I think would be perfect stripped of all paint and left aluminum

I went and looked again and you are correct it does look polished but it is not. Painted the same hammered silver as the headstock.

Micky,
I failed to take before shots but it was a dead ringer for your before shots maybe slightly worse. It came out super as far as i am concerned and I was assuming that it had a 3/4 HP motor but this thing absolutely screams at FAST speed. Sounds a lot faster than my Mark VII with 1 1/8 HP motor. I am pretty tickled with the outcome.
