I was thinking about plumbing my shop with 4" pipe for dust collection and reducing to 2 1/2 at /near tools. Has anyone tryed this with the DC3300
and does anyone know where I can get a 4" adaptor for the DC3300
I see it is no longer avalible from SS. Just a thought, Tired of tripping over hoses and haveing to move Hoses from tool to tool.
Thanks,
David

The velocity of the air flow in the pipe DECREASES proportionally with the INCREASE in diameter. In order to keep dust and chips suspended in the airstream the velocity needs to be at least 3500 cu ft per minute. Thus, the larger diameter pipe may let the velocity fall enough that dust accumulates in the pipe and never reaches the DC3300.
Nick Engler has used 3" PVC pipe successfully with the DC3300 in a system that he designed for the Shopsmith Academy; http://www.shopsmithacademy.com/SS_Arch ... ection.htm
