Greetings woodworkers,
I know that many SS owners use a standalone table saw. I have a 1962 Craftsman 100 table saw that I use in addition to my SS 510. I really like that old Craftsman but I would like to upgrade the fence. I've read some good things about the Vega after market fence. I have several others to choose from. I would enjoy hearing your opinions and experiences upgrading the fence of a non Shopsmith table saw. Thank you!
Best,
Tom Salwasser

I suspect any of the top names in add-on fences would be a good choice -- Biesemeyer, Unifence, or Vega or one of the many Biesemeyer clones. I have a Unifence on a Unisaw, which I like, but if I were buying a Unisaw today, I'd get it with a Biesemeyer. The Vega has a micro-adjust feature which makes it attractive, so I'd give it a close look if I were adding a fence to an existing saw. If you have a Rockler store nearby, you can check out the Vega in person if they have one in stock. You likely can fine a lot of comments on the pros and cons of the various fences with a couple of Google searches.

Tom,
There are several manufacturers of aftermarket fences, but I don't know if they will fit your tablesaw. Peachtree woodworking has the EZ fence system, Rockler has the Vega fence system, and Grizzly has a couple of Shop Fox fences (check out the G9220), and Mulecab.com has the Accusquare rip fence system.
The Accusquare looks a good fence considering the cost.
I have a SawSmith 2000 with the standard fence and plan to upgrade someday pending a cash infusion!
You can look at the thread for more info: https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=4922
Sincerely,
Ron

I am very tempted by the 40" Vega fence on sale for $280 at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00002 ... d_i=507846 You may want to check it out. I was saving my pennies for an Incra and hoping for a sale. The Vega looks awfully good at that price.
