Scroll saw compatibility

Post by rhartley »

Now that the 510 & 500 are nearing completion (waiting for 2 bearing quill for the 500) I've moved onto the other shop-fire survivors. Next up the scroll saw.
It's a gray walking beam saw mod# 555220. The upper arm cover has a broken rear attachment tab. Shopsmith supports only the teal version but will the same cover fit both? Parts look the same so what's the difference between the gray and teal?
Thanks
currently converting perfectly good firewood into cups, bowls, spindles, but mostly sawdust.

This is a very difficult subject to discuss because there are no documents that show clearly what the differences are between models.

Parts comparisons are hard unless you have both illustrated parts breakdowns laying side by side.

In my manual the upper arm cover is part number 514597 and in the online catalog it is 518271. The parts lists do not compare well.

I think your best bet is to call customer service. I sure hope you don't come back and tell us that they no longer support the gray model. That is what I have, too.
