Caster issue

I'm reassembling my newly repainted Mark V. After I put the caster assemblies on, the left side works fine but the right side (hinge side of the framework) will rotate through all the positions but won't drop to the lowest position, staying about a quarter inch off the floor. I didn't disassemble the caster assemblies and I don't see any difference in them. What did I do wrong? Would the weight of the headstock, once it's put on the way tubes, be enough to drop the legs to the floor? What am I missing?

Will it drop if you rotate the foot pedal? Will it drop further if it is 'lowered' b4 lowering the other end? If so, then additional weight will help.

However the pistons should retract with only the spring pressure(no reliance on weight). Are both springs positioned properly?

I too had the same problem, that was until I looked and saw that the bar that the castors rides on, had come out of its breaket. Perhaps your problem will be as simple? ;-)

Thanks to both of you for your replies. You made me look at the it from different perspectives.

But I think I've found the problem. I didn't attach the leg units to the bench tubes right. I had inserted the bench tubes too far on that end. That threw off the angle between the leg unit and the bench tubes (and floor) and consequently the angle of the caster assembly was off also. Once I corrected the bench tubes/leg unit connection, I'm back in business. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
