Hi,
Sometimes I post things assuming that people will put the puzzle together for themselves and turn the light on to see the implications. I'm sure that this works some of the times but other times, well it seems rather dark....
Now that I have your attention let's get to the point of this post. Some people want to use different "standard" miter gauges with the shopsmith. We define standard as one that is 3/8" x 3/4". The shopsmith one in simple terms is 23/32" wide. (The older 10ers were 1/4" x 3/4" and this post is not going to deal with that...).
So we all know about the idea of milling the standard bar down to shopsmith size... or maybe re-milling the main table??? Assuming no one really does re-mill of the table and if it really can be done...
Of course when ever the new fan-dangled one comes out you have to see if it can be mounted, like a digital one that might not take kindly to having work done to it, anyway the problem has not really gone away, it just moves to what ever strikes your fancy next.
So what simple thing can you do to make it all better? I'd say throw money at it... works for me. It also will be useful to shopsmith since they must make some money selling the Incra Miter Express. See the following then come back here and finish reading the post.

OK the first line states: "Just slip the bar of your MARK V Miter Gauge (or any miter gauge)...".
That about says it all, well except for a couple of minor details like the $162.74 price tag. And you will loose a bit of the depth of cut due to the table but those are very little to pay for the improvements you get.
I used this concept when I purchased the Incra 1000HD about Christmas time last year. See here:

Is it still dark in here or did some lights come on?
