10er restoration

Post by jtime101 »

Here is the 10er I just finished up restoring, I picked it up off craigslist for $75, it needed a few parts I got off eBay. The paint is from Tractor Supply - Tractor and Implement paint Massey Ferguson Gray. The table top was pieced together from several table scraps I had laying around, the logo was cut by one of my buddies out of vinyl and then I polyed over it.(I got the idea from another forum member who did this and I really liked the look. The motor I had laying around from another project it is 3/4 horse, but the capacitor was mounted on the bottom, so I had to make the spacers you see to give the clearance I needed.

Let me know what you think....

Great looking job on your ER. I also love the logo touch. After seeing two of these on inlay and now this process I think I need to do this to my next ER rebuild
Thanks
Bill :)

Very nice job. I like the logo on the base too. Is that silk screened or a decal or what???

Looks great! Sure nice to see these old machines come back to life. Welcome to the forum. What part of the country are you in. Curious to where your machine was displayed, kind of looks like a very big shop in the background.

I think you have done an EXCELLENT job of restoring it!!!! The miter gauge appears to have come from a Model 10E.

Closer look reveals the miter gauge is from a brand X.

Thanks for the good comments, i updated my location. The shop is where I work and am able to do projects like this on my downtime.
The logo was cut out of red vinyl, on my buddies vinyl cutter, we took a pic of the actual logo and in photo shop made it a vector image so that we can make it bigger or smaller without distortion or pixelation.
The miter guage was found in a spare parts bin in my garage do not know what it is from but will work.

Thanks for the reply. Vinyl would have been my preferred method of creation too. FWIW, I do have a vinyl cutter and the ShopSmith logo in vector. If anyone would need/want one of these, just let me know.

What color / type of paint? edit: Scratch this question!!! Post #1 covered it nicely.
