Lathe Duplicator Versions

I happened on a killer deal for a still-in-box Lathe Duplicator part number 555209. Oddly enough, I can find no reference to this model number anywhere. A web search links to the current lathe duplicator, part number 555638.

What are the differences? Are there any functional differences?

The lathe duplicators I have seen or owned have differences in the tables and the support brackets that support the unistrut pattern holder. The early tables used an old 500 worktable without the fence bar. The table was covered and had a black plastic trim piece that went around the edge. The current table is about 1-1/4 mdf with a laminate top and edge. The support brackets have been beefed up over the years to reduce the flex in them. The previous owner of one of my duplicators welded reinforcements on the bracket himself. Hope this helps.

Mine has a MDF table with four threaded inserts. Based upon the parts list it has a "single channel" style support.

I don't see any functional differences in the 2 versions that I have. as stated above, there are differences in the vertical support posts and in the single/double slotted horizontal support bar.

here is some info that I posted a while back in a thread on duplicator manuals:

SS still carries the manual for both versions of the lathe duplicator.

the main differences between the 2 models are the channel assembly and the support brackets.
the single C-channel is the one in the SS site pictures.
the double-channel version appears to be the only one that SS is carrying parts for:

the manual for the version with the 2-sided channel is
