Mark VII - Need Some Parts

I was able to pick up a Mark VII yesterday at an auction, but it will need a bit of work before cutting some wood, etc. The motor runs, both forward and reverse, and the speed dial raises and lowers the speed; however, the speed increases and the dial turns on its own with the motor running. There was a wooden wedge jammed between the speed dial and the headstock to keep the speed from advancing on its own. I haven't gotten into the headstock yet other than check to see that the cam looked ok, so hopefully it's an easy fix. Any ideas?

It also was missing a few parts that are specific to the machine. There was no rip fence or small table. I though perhaps the rip fence from a Mark V would fit, but the Mark VII's table is a couple of inches deeper than the Mark V's. Anyone have any spares?

There was no tailstock, sanding disk, lathe centers or saw arbor, but the Mark V's will fit, so no problem there.

There is one crack/split in the rack for advancing the headstock, but the crank works smoothly and that break in the rack doesn't seem to be a problem. The vacuum has suction, so that seems to work as well. And, it also came with the flexible shaft.

With tax and a buyer's premium it came to about $110, so not too bad a deal in my view, provide I can come up with the rip fence and small table. It's still on the back of the pick-up, so I'll be unloading and giving it a better look later today.

Art, the MKVll I got this week has an extra extention table that appears to have never been used. The legs are still wrapped from the factory. It also has an extra rip fence. If you are interested contact me off site at

Thanks Rob and Bill for the info. I've sent you both an e-mail regarding the parts.

I forgot to mention that I received a Magna jointer with the Mark VII and also four metal spinning tools. Don't know if the Mark VII was used for spinning metal or not, but it was set up for turning when I got it with the tool rest in place and a screw center mounted on the spindle.

I still haven't gotten it off the truck. Perhaps tomorrow.

JPG, here are the tools for spinning sheet aluminum, pewter, etc., on a lathe. Usually this is done on a large, heavy lathe with the tools used to form a sheet of metal around a wooden mold or template. These tools were made by Boise-Crane/Wilton. They're about 25-26 inches long.
