Small cordless driver?
Moderator: admin
Yes, bought two for a buck apiece at a yard sale. Both are labeled 9 volt. (I doubt that)
One is a B&D, the other is a Chinese no name. Neither one will work for my use. I want it to turn the crank on my router lift. I'm lazy!:D
Neither one has enough ooomph.

Milwaukee makes a nice one that has a folding body.. I don't recall the model # but the batteries last nice and long between charges and it's got pretty decent torque. I got mine at Sears.com for a bit over $100 IIRC.. Oh .. Here's the one I was looking for -- here

Not surprised. Screw drivers are weak and slow across the board. I'd really suggest using a cordless drill. Even a small one runs circles around the screw driversGene Howe wrote:Yes, bought two for a buck apiece at a yard sale. Both are labeled 9 volt. (I doubt that)

Thanks guys, for the comments and suggestions.
I really don't want to spend $100+ to assuage my laziness.
The Makita works fine, just a little big, is all.
I use the Jointech system with a jessem lift. The lift has fine threads for minute adjustments. Takes a lot of revolutions to go from cutting hight to cutter changing hight and back to low enough to use the table saw.

Black and Decker also makes one that costs about $14.00 that uses standard AA batteries. (Of course, those come in a rechargeable format.) I normally use 300 feet of extension cord, but thought that running cord across the road to install my new mailbox was a bad idea.Gene Howe wrote:Living in a very rural area, I have limited places to find what I need. Can someone point me to a site to find a non pistol grip, rechargeable cordless driver. Don't need a lot of oomph but would like a long life per charge. Would consider disposable batteries if necessary.
Thanks folks.

You are doing it all wrong. What you need is more children then you can have them do the cranking.
I was my father's TV remote control my whole childhood. I changed the channels, raised and lowered the sound and adjusted the rabbit ears. I fact I knew the exact position to put the rabbit ears for each channel. I remember one channel I prayed my father didn't want to watch, because of that channel I have to hold the rabbit ears in my left hand, stand on my right leg point my right hand toward the north and the my left lef to west. It made it hard to get involved in a TV program standing like that.
Have more kids and you got your crank problems solved.

Another alternative is to trick the neighborhood kids into believing cranking your router up and down is a test for super powers. The one that does it the fastest is the super hero of the day.

Mark,
One of the ones I got for $1.00 at a yard sale is a B&D. The clutch slips before it will even move the lift slightly. That "bargain" wasn't!:( Oh, well. I just went without one cup of coffee that day.
ED,
Thanks for all the good suggestions. We have no neighbors....well close ones, anyway. And, even those are well over (normal) child bearing age. As are wife and I.
So, kids are out. But you are thinking.....and that's good.
