Touchdown Jesus burns

Post by cincinnati »

Anyone who had traveled I-75 between Cincinnati and Dayton has noticed the big statue of Jesus in front of the Solid Rock Church. Nicknamed "Touch Down Jesus" It was destroyed last night. Hit by lightening during a bad storm.

Cinci:

I've driven past it many times. Actually, I first thought it was a large statue of Jesus. However, I now think it is/was actually Peter. Peter fits in with the "solid rock" scenario.

I believe that "touchdown Jesus" is at the football stadium at Notre Dame in South Bend IN.

The local newspaper(Lexington, KY) refers to it as the 'Big Butter Jesus'.
More descriptive than 'touchdown'.

Was just put up this last week.

I'm sure the church and it's congregation was saddened by the loss and I'm glad they were able to rebuilt it.
