It look identical to the Nova Lathe motor and an upgrade of the controls so it could be made in Australia. It looks like the initial run is sold out. People who got in the the initial run will get theirs in September according to the Website. No word on availability after that.Ed in Tampa wrote:You guys are missing one point that jumped out at me. You can RESERVE you Power Pro today. Says nothing about when you will get it.
I suspect China will only ship a container full. Wonder how many they have to reserve before they able to even order?
Perhaps I'm wrong and they have them all in stock that would be wonderful for those that will be ordering.
I have already spouted off about the price and where I stand so I won't go there again.
The initial run ships in 6-8 weeks (August). The second wave ships in September.paulmcohen wrote:It look identical to the Nova Lathe motor and an upgrade of the controls so it could be made in Australia. They would be wise to NOT answer your questions specifically. Rules for country or origin are much too complex for them (customer service rep) to answer and they could be setting themselves up for legal problems. Even a legal team debates the issue.a1gutterman wrote:Here is a a copy of an e-mail that I sent off to them. I will let you know what the response is.
You're missing the fun, and purpose, of owning a Shopsmith. If the only function I used was the table saw, I'd buy a dedicated table saw. I love the versatility and the SPTs. But that's just me....Gene Howe wrote:Hmmmm....Looks like I'll be stuck in the 20th century for a while longer.
I don't drill or do any turning with my SS. Just ripping, some crosscutting and mitering. I can't see a $1500 (+ -) advantage. Am I missing something?
