Of course not all buyers haunt these forums, but it still seems like it didn't take many to sell out the first batch.

I was tempted by the upgrade. However, in a need to have versus nice to have analysis. The upgrade currently falls in the nice to have category. I may still sell some of my toys to upgrade one of my toys. But, that will have to wait until September.]

The new idler shaft and drive sleeve and belts can be used in the Power Pro ---BUT - Shopsmith insists, for warranty purposes, on using the partx coming with the Power Pro.. Belts are included! They say you can save your old/new parts as spares or replacements.

I voted with the "yep but more nickels" bunch but that isn't exactly right. I just wanted to indicate a definite plan to buy rather than a "maybe".
I can do the nickels but I'm just not ready yet. I will keep my 510 as is and probably make one of my generics not yet rebuilt into a 520 table system and put a PowerPro on it. I have a stack of rebuildable headstocks and will likely trade one of those in. It would be silly to trade in one I have already gone through. On the other hand I have one or two that I wouldn't try to foist off on them. They have always treated me well and I would want to treat them right in return.
I am not ready because I have not been able to work in (or on) my shop except for some quickie stuff for a while and probably will not before fall. Then it will probably take most of the winter to get any real progress made on the shop. Just too many irons in the fire this summer...
I have been trying to get some horse lots built for a month now but it won't quit raining (I have boarders waiting on lots). We normally get a little over 2 inches of rain in June but my community (Shelbyville IN) is now sitting at 14 inches for the month (so far). Much of the state is at 6 or 7 inches for the month.
I could "borrow" from another fund but I have already raided other funds for the woodshop for a couple of years now and I really do kind of like to keep track of which pocket things come out of...
The horse boarding will earn many times what the woodshop ever will (see, I really can be a realist ) and that venture needs some extra cash this summer. I have some "extra" income coming next month but I also told my wife that we would replace my old 4 cylinder bike with a heavier one and that we would maybe make a bike trip to the Smokies this summer. Sooooo, while I do intend to buy a PowerPro it may be late winter or spring before I do. By then I should know better what I want to keep and what I want to sell from my "stash". I might be able to sell enough extra stuff to cover most of the PowerPro
Do I "need" one? Of course not.
Do I want one? Of course.
Can I justify one? Not out loud... Shhhhhhh.

As anyone who tries to stay current with the Smartphone cell phone technology will tell you, it is common practice to keep an initial low inventory for new hot products.
Reasons for doing this include: if there are major issues with the initial batch then they can fix/replace the products without having to eat too much cost. Also, having a hot product that folks have trouble getting keeps the PR hype very high (can't beat free publicity) and although it may annoy some of us, it actually helps grab the attention of new customers who might otherwise not have purchased the product (i.e. with no hype).
