Bandsaw
Has anyone changed the upper wheel bearing on the bandsaw?????
Upper Bandsaw Bearings
Yes. It takes 2 of the Steel Needle Roller Bearing B88 1/2" Bore x 11/16" OD X 1/2" Length.sawdust2155 wrote:Has anyone changed the upper wheel bearing on the bandsaw?????
I used a 5/8" punch to remove both of the bearings and a machined 1/2" shaft with a collar to install the bearings, I did one on each side of the upper wheel.
I find that when the needle bearings need replacing, I had to replace the Upper Wheel Arm and Axle (517640) due to excessive axle wear.

bandsaw
Thanks so much for the response.....It looked to me to be a two_part bearing, but I thought I would check with you guys before I tried to remove them. Does your bandsaw run quite or rather loud????
The bandsaw can be pretty loud at that. Of course squeals from bearings can be solved with careful attention/alignment, but the fundamental action of the bandsaw isn't quiet. Bigger blades make more sound, too. There may be some advantage in sound-dampening in the old cast-iron table versus the newer aluminum tables.
