heathicus wrote:The way I take the question, what is happening is that when you set the table, the action of tightening the lock causes the table to move out of position. Is that correct?

If so, make sure you have 2 washers between the lock handle and the trunnion. What could be happening is the increased friction between the trunnion and lock handle causes the handle to "grab" the trunnion and turn it with the handle as it is tightened. This could still happen with just one washer, so make sure there are two. With a couple of washers between the handle and trunnion, any "grabbing" and movement should happen between the handle and washers and not be transferred to the trunnion.

If there are two washers there, maybe cleaning them up or putting some kind of lubricant on them would help?
I had only one washer but that has been changed. If it works with two, it'll stay. If there is a reason for only one, I'll discover what it is.

dusty wrote:Aahh, that changes matters somewhat. Since you are unable to retain the table in the correct position when tightening the tilt lock, I just may have a fix. I'll have to take a couple photos but I'll post them here when I have them.

Thanks for the tip heathicus. I am not sure that I have two washers. I'll have to go look.
I have had the need to tweak table tilt angles and I found it very frustrating to get it right. The problem (for me) was significant but the solution was obvious and simple.

Now most times and for most people this is over kill but occasionally it is needed. I use it seldom but when I need it, it is there.

Thanks for the response. I will consider this. It certainly is simple enough.
I had trouble not concentrating on the equipment in the background. You might want to give some thought to a back drop for these online photos.

Personally, I love to see the organization in Dusty's shop!:D It serves to almost inspire a shop clean-up.:o

Once upon a time, long, long ago I put up a blue drop cloth to hide the clutter from view. I was quickly told that was a no-no. The clutter was what made the shots interesting. Besides, I have changed the shop and there is no convenient place from which to hand a back drop.;)

Now in my case any 'coverup' is quite desirable.

See, I said I was confused....BUT....I don't recall ever seeing your shop in any photos. You got a nice patio, at least I thought it was a patio. It was out of doors.

KISs - just take the pictures without a back drop. Of course with this group, anything in the picture is subject to comment, critique, compliment, etc.:D
