10E(R) bench caster question

I am putting my bench back together. It originally had caster wheels bolted through the bottom holes. I acquired a pair of original casters and went to bolt them on and the holes in the legs don't match up, bummer! I read the manual and it says that the holes are pre-drilled on the SS work bench, so I am assuming mine is not original.

I must drill my own holes, my question to the group is, how far up from the bottom is the first hole? I can get the rest after that.

See how 3-1/4" looks measured from the inside, about 3-9/32" measured on the outside.

you can just see the wheels poking out in the fully extended position.

Rolls around great.

They should also be poking out in the half position also(just not as much).

Just went and checked, rolls in the half position as well. scrapes a little, but that could be my surface

OR, perhaps the casters are smaller than when 'new'!

I would think the half position is only there as a stepping stone for the full position setting anyway. Gurus......what say you?

The 'half' position allows you to make minor adjustments or operate with them lowered. The 'full' position is for moving longer distances or rougher surfaces.
