While browsing my local HD the other day; I ran across these. I have tried a lot of different solutions to keep the cords on my sanders, circular saws, jig saws, etc. from winding up a tangled mess. My Ridgid random orbit sander came with a cord keeper but my other tools had nothing better than a twist tie.
I bought these when I ran across them and started attaching them to my power cords. These pictures just show how they work. They have a slit at one end that you wrap around the cord and put the other end through. This keeps them from getting lost when you use the tool.
The cost is very reasonable as well. This roll of 50 was under $4.00. They are 8 " long which seems long enough for now but they were also available in other sizes.

Tdubnik, what section of the Home Depot did you fine them in?
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they were an aisle or two to the left of the tool section at my HD. They had several types in a small display section or else I probably would not have seen them.

Staples and Office Depot also sell these we buy them by the carton and still can't seem to get all of our cords tidied up. Fjimp

I got a roll of double sided Velcro in the sewing department at Wal-Mart. I forget how much it was but it wasn't much. I have a GearWrench socket set in a plastic case. Of coure, the plastic 'hinges' don't last, so I used the Velcor to secure it.
I have used the velcro for years. I got mine at Home Depot and mine was long enough to wrap the cord plus secure it to handles of my tools to relieve the strain on the cord where it enters the tool.
I coil up my cord then velcro it to handle, keeps everything neat and I don't have any lose bundles of cord flopping around in my tool drawers.
