Questions: About Reconditioning a Mark V

I didn't think this was correct, but couldn't say so with any authority until now. In the move, I uncovered a piece of aluminum flashing I had done some paint tests on.

FWIW, Those different 'pigments' that separate after application also create different paint thicknesses that do resemble a 'hammered' surface.

I did not mean to imply that the surface was 'smooth'.

If the hammered paint is not applied thick enough, the separation will not take place, and the 'dimpled' surface will not be developed.

I have finally accumulated all of the parts required to assemble a second Mark V (short the headstock). Yes, I know, without a headstock I won't have much of a woodworking machine but I trust that will come in time.

Have you by any chance heard of a product called "Spray Texture"? The can in my hand is from Homax, says "Homax Orange Peel Quick Dry Spray Texture" and it's used by house painters to get that roughened surface on drywall repairs. Produces multiple textures (fine, medium etc) I Think depending on how you put it on (spray distance maybe?).
I know it works very well on walls as a base coat. On other primer coats and other type surfaces, I dunno. This stuff comes from the hardware store.
