Thanks again to Beeg for the link. My switching problems seem to be solved. Now on to the ductwork. After reading the threads on dust collection I am completely confused.

I plan to put the collector in an adjacent room. I will bring the duct through the wall at one end of the shop and run the full length (22') of the shop. Last item to connect is the router table. I am worried about suction after that length.

I had thought about running 4" pvc the for the trunk line and flex lines off of that. After reading about 2 1/2" duct as opposed to 4", I have no idea what to do.

Thanks once again Bob. The link was very informative. I will have to do more research and put a lot more thought into my design. May end up putting the collector in the shop so I can cut down on length of runs. I guess I'll wait till the unit hits the door so I can work with the specs supplied.

Maybe the unit will be just what the doctor ordered but I should have done a little more research before I spend hard money to make sure my needs would be supplied. Thanks again.

Belt sander upgrade for dust collection

Post by kd6vpe »

Is the upgrade any better on the beltsander. I have a magna sander and it really does not do a good job on the dust collection port. Any opinions of the 2.5 inch upgrade is it really does make much difference.

Well,
I answered my own question. The dust collector sale happened and I went ahead and ordered the upgrade for my belt sander. I just assumed that SS knew what they were doing and they did. What a big difference in the collection. It is like night and day. Anyone wondering if they should upgrade the belt sander dust collector attachment should you will really be happy with it. Of course you will be happier when you can buy it on sale.
